The Blue Room
Then:

Now:

The Blue Room is one of four fancy rooms that will set you back $100 a night. The room is completely overwhelmingly blue. There is a carpeted bench running the length of the wall. I can't explain why.

Overwhelmingly blue, that is, except for the bedding. Lush red satin. Bouncy waterbed. Blue carpeted shell. I may build one of these for me. But then, that'd be just wrong.

The plastic chairs have been replaced with very tasteful wooden ones. The blue vase is a nice touch. I'd have filled it a bouquet of irises, violets, and lilacs, though.

The bathroom is the coup de grace. A round tiled bathtub (too small to actually bathe in, but that's not the point here, I think) with a hosed shower head assembly. Pure heaven, so long as you avoid the rock wall's sharp edges. At this point, the nice lady thought I was mighty strange.
